The Ultimate Movie Poll, Joaquin is at place 18 at the best supporting actor :)

05-10-Buffalo Soldiers in Entertainment Weekend 28 september

"Northern Views from Toronto Film Festival: It turns out that what is to my tastes is the furious amorality that ignites Buffalo Soldiers, Australian director Gregor Jordan's novel and nasty film about bored, wastrel American troops in West Germany in 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Joaquin Phoenix continues his streak of great performances as a U.S. Army clerk whose black-market racket is threatened with the appearance of a tough sumbitch top sergeant, played up the wazoo by Scott Glenn; the top's juicy young daughter is fitted out by Anna Paquin. This movie is mean, unsentimental, and not a little ballistic. Whether that means it will have release troubles in this current climate remains to be seen."

On the unofficial Site from the UK for Signs are some pictures of the set, go here and some news about the movie

27-09-Initial reports indicated that the movie would be released next Fall/Winter around November, but we've now heard that the revised release date will be in the Summer of 2002 probably around August. This makes more sense to us as it means the marketing campaign will coincide with the 2002 crop circle season here in the UK and the US and the release of the movie will coincide with the traditional climax of the season in August. From the Unofficial Signs UK site.

26-09-Brother Bear, the new Walt Disney project that Phil Collins is writing the soundtrack for, is now officially scheduled for release in 2005. Originally, Disney wanted Brother Bear out by 2003, but due to production schedules that has become impossible. The film goes into production in late 2001 or early 2002 at Disney Feature Animation Studios in Florida. This is the third project that this group has been in charge of following Mulan and the forthcoming Lilo and Stitch. The Directors of the film are reported to be Aaron Blaise and Book Walker and the producer is Chuck Williams.

A Knight's Tale: A Few Parting Stabs From an Outgoing Senior

For all you gossip friends out there: Did you know Julia Stiles works in the honors lounge as a proctor? Joaquin Phoenix might not go to this school but people spot him all the time at "keggers" down on D.P., which stands for Del Playa Drive.

Out and around

Director M. Night Shyamalan, taking a breather from filming Signs in Bucks County, treated about 30 friends and film types (some from his previous films The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable) to dinner Saturday in the private vault at Circa (1518 Walnut St.). Also along was Joaquin Phoenix, who is costarring in Signs. He canoodled with a friend and chain-smoked, a curious health-style choice given that he's a vegan.
